About Bill Bill Sharer was trained to lead in the Army and has honed those skills in business. He is a leader who understands the issues and knows what is right. William (Bill) Sharer is a 48 year old native New Mexican, born in Albuquerque and raised in Farmington. He married his beautiful wife Beth in 1981 and has two adult children, Amanda and Sean, and one grandson. As a graduate of Farmington High School, New Mexico Military Institute and New Mexico State University, he has deep roots in New Mexico and understands the needs of the area. A former U.S. Army officer, Bill served his country as an infantryman, graduating from the elite Airborne, Ranger & Special Forces Schools. After leaving the army Bill returned to Farmington and now runs a successful business in the community. He has been very active in both his church and civic organizations since his return in 1995. He was elected to the state senate in 2000 and currently sits on the Senate Conservation Committee, The Senate Education Committee, The Senate Indian Affairs Committee, The Land Grant Committee, The Legislative Education Study Committee, The Los Alamos National Laboratory Oversight Committee, The Revenue Stabilization & Tax Policy Committee. Bill is very proud of his work in the state senate. He has been very effective in stopping bad legislation by working with like-minded legislators (both Republican and Democrat) in behind-the-scenes efforts to protect us from over-burdensome taxes and stifling regulations. |
